General Information

The radial arm saw is an excellent general purposes saw, which makes it an indispensable machine to be found in any workshop. Although it is used primarily for crosscutting, the radial arm saw can be used for ripping or making special cuts for joinery. Its versatility is based on the number of different angulations and inclinations chosen according to the various needs. Different blades and shaper heads can also be used to make dado cuts (grooves running across the grain) or moldings. The arm that supports the power head can usually be adjusted to allow for miter cuts and compound angles. The diameter of the blade used and the horsepower rating determine the size of a radial arm saw.
